  • No organization is automatically granted tax exemption. Churches have to apply for tax exemption. They know what the rules were when they applied... they accepted those conditions in order to get the tax exemption. They should be forced to abide by the rules or have their tax exemption taken away.

  • They were sold to the stores with the idea of reducing the number of cashiers needed... 1 cashier could supervise 4 registers.

  • Keep one thing in mind in this particular case... All 3 drivers involved ... are all holders of a CDL. The school bus drivers also hold an endorsement not normally found on a OTR drivers CDL and that is a passenger endorsement.

  • stevenp3034415.... just curious about your statement about trucks being inspected more often. My school bus gets 2 pre-trip inspections and 2 post trip inspections 5 days a week. Plus I am required to take it into the shop once a month for the mechinics to do their more in-depth inspection.

  • Brenda... actually the issue of seat belts on buses is still on a local or state basis. The are not required on buses here in Alabama and the state Dept of Ed. recently did a comprehensive study of the issue.

  • Yes.. most likely there were no seat belts for the passengers of the bus. However, lets look at the facts involved. The tractor-trailer driver Required by law to wear seat belt....DEAD... Truck sideswiped one bus before hitting the 2nd bus head on... 2 teachers on bus DEAD.
